Introduction to Mindfulness Practice Workshop
On Saturday December 17, all foreign and Thai teachers from the MLP department attended a seminar on mindfulness. The main topics were about how to become a happy teacher; what is mindfulness and why to develop it; cultivating compassion; how to reconnect with your students and how to create a happy school and classroom. The seminar was given by Ms. Yau Yan Wong, an expert on mindfulness education who obtained a bachelor’s degree in child education, a master’s degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in Science Education on mindfulness. The purpose of the seminar was to guide our teachers on how to develop mindfulness and become happier themselves and how to share this with the students in the classroom and improve their mindfulness and happiness as well. After the introduction seminar, different options will be discussed on how to continue everyone’s practice by organizing a more intensive course for the teachers with regular meetings.
